This week in Turkey marked lots of celebrations for the New Year.  January 1 is an important holiday here. Families get together and share food and gifts.  There were many parties and get togethers to enjoy!

My class is finishing up their tile panels.  Next Thursday is our final crit.  I have enjoyed my students here and will miss them.

I have been making laser and color decals on commercial porcelain plates while here.  I am documenting them and will leave most of them for gifts to my Turkish colleagues and friends.

I took some shots of my building this week while walking around.  The students have a great “canteen” to grab a bite, some tea or coffee while spending time with their friends.  The stairs are lessons in art history, each with a different style or chronology.  You can catch a glimpse of one of the studios and the main entrance to the building below.

Sadly, this will be my last post from Turkey.  I will be headed home on Friday.  I have a Fulbright event in Ankara on Monday and then will be back for final crits with my class and to say my thanks and good byes to my wonderful colleagues.  It will not be an easy week for me.  I am looking forward to be home at the same time, I will miss being here.  I have been made to feel so welcomed and appreciated by the administration, faculty and students of the Anadolu Üniversitesi GüzeI Sanatlar Fakültesi. It has been a wonderful adventure living and working in Turkey and I cannot thank The Fulbright Commission enough for giving me this amazing opportunity.
